3D Printing

I’ve been grossly neglecting my blog this week, due to the aforementioned onslaught of work (presentations, design projects, essays, workshops, etc.). With St. Patrick’s Day and my day of birth next week, I can’t see things getting much better. So I apologize now!

Here are some snapshots of the 3D printer at Kwartz Lab in the KW area, where a workshop was held for my class this week!

I’d never seen one up close, and figure many people haven’t, so I thought I’d share.

The woman running the workshop explained it as essentially a hot glue gun – which makes sense when you look at the ($25-30) spools that are used as ‘paper’. I didn’t have a chance to see it in action yet, but saw some of the small plastic figures that had been produced by it. Pretty cool stuff!
