Back to back wins for the Canadian Olympic hockey teams have led to a surge of status updates, celebrations and community vibes.
One thing that bothers me during all the hoopla is how people forget the other sports. Let’s not overshadow the gold we won in curling and ski cross – athletes that likely work in addition to training and don’t have the spotlight all year round.
Another thing that bothers me is the disappointment of gold. We saw it with Patrick Chan, we’ve seen it with other athletes. If our boys can’t seal the deal like the ladies, let’s not let it hurt our pride or joy. Silver is nothing to scoff at and the hard work of our athletes shouldn’t be mourned, even if it isn’t the result we hope for.
