As I start and am already addicted after only two episodes Game of Thrones about a million years after the series took off, I thought I’d continue the trend by posting a ‘late to the party’ tune this week.

I was never a huge Amy Winehouse fan, mostly because of my limited exposure to her music and maximum exposure to her antics. This summer however, my mom started playing her album Back to Black around the house and I finally began to understand what all the hype was about.

Here’s my favourite song off the album:

Now try not to spend your day singing VALERIIEEEEE!

She truly was a very talented, very soulful artist. Too true it seems that creative genius is connected with emotional hardship. Her music is deep, unique, varied and casual in a way that really communicates how raw her talent was.

Some things just can’t be taught.

May her soul be at rest knowing that she left us with beautiful music that will be enjoyed for years to come.
